The pre-requisite for this programme is a good first degree (at least a Second Class Lower Division) in the agricultural economics, agribusiness, economics or general agriculture with significant level of quantitative/economics background from a recognised university or equivalent academic institution. Admission is competitive and evaluation of applicants may include a written test and interview sessions.
Where the services of graduates from programme would be required include Agribusiness firms, MDAs, financial institutions, development agencies and other NGOs, Private consulting firms, training and research institutions, individual/self-establishments, etc.

The Department also runs postgraduate courses leading to the award of MAgric/MPhil/PhD in Animal Science with specialization in one of the following areas: Animal Breeding and Genetics, Animal Nutrition, Animal Physiology, Meat Science and Technology, Microbiology and Immunology and Range and Forage Management. This is possible because of our state-of-the-art Molecular Genetics Laboratory, the Cameron Meat Science and Technology Laboratory, the Immunology and Microbiology Laboratory and the Animal Nutrition Laboratory.

Applicants must hold a good Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Extension, or a related discipline from a recognized university. Relevant professional experience in agriculture or rural development is an added advantage. Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview.
