Dr Michael Jeroen Adjabeng is currently the National Professional Officer (Surveillance), at the WHO Country Office, Ghana. His responsibilities include maintaining surveillance on Polio and other vaccine preventable diseases through the use of the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response approach. His main focus of interest is Epidemiology, Disease Surveillance, Port Health and International Health Regulations. He has supported in the establishment of various surveillance systems within the Ghana Health Service and contributed to the development of guidelines and standard operating procedures. He has worked at every administrative level of the health system.
He played a leading role in Ghana’s Joint External Evaluation assessment and the development of the National Action Plan for Health Security. He is a member of the Editorial Board for the Ghana Weekly Epidemiological Report and a past General Secretary of the Ghana Public Health Association.
Dr Adjabeng holds a PhD (Public Health), MPH, BSc (HSc/Consumer Sciences) and Dip (Comm Health).
