Ahmed Osumanu Haruna is a Professor and Lecturer at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He is the current Head of the Biodiversity Laboratory Borneo at the Institut EkoSains Borneo, UPM.

Prof. Osumanu serves as an expert reference for several national and international institutions. Currently, he is an academic and a non-academic board member for several institutions and organizations. Also, he is involved in approximately 54 research grant projects at UPM.  Together with his research team, some of their innovations have been licensed for commercialization. Moreover, Prof. Osumanu and his research team has 12 filed patents and six trademarks in the United States of America, Europe, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Thailand. He has been awarded approximately 65 academic awards at university, national, and international, levels (Malaysia, USA, Canada, Germany, Croatia, Romania, Morocco, South Korea, Turkey, and Indonesia).

He is actively involved in Technology or Knowledge Transfer and professional consultancy services for several stakeholders. The contribution of Prof. Osumanu to the global scholarship is profound. This is evident in the over 404 scholarly works encompassing 251 refereed journal papers, 18 books, 18 book chapters, 106 papers in conference proceedings, and 11 other scholarly publications. He continues to write popular articles for the general public. He has supervised approximately 51 postdoctoral research fellows, PhD, and Masters students. He is currently supervising 13 PhD and Masters students. Prof. Osumanu is an Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member for several referred journals. He is frequently invited as a main speaker in many national and international intellectual fora. He is a member of several professional bodies and continues to render public services and consultancy to many organizations.
